Ches’ updates

  • Progress continues

Ignoring audio, some work with the blackmagic and gimball

feels like little progress, but it ends up making huge leaps for the finished videos.
We’ve been doing some tests with a manfrotto gimbal, beautiful piece of tech, have to adjust a couple of things before we dive deep into shot planning.

and we’ve been slowly working on Ches too of course, moving on from our topology to began finalizing our base mesh + high res LOD, and sculpting.

  • Camera work

In our tests before, with an older model, and a really old camera.

    (Canon Rebel T3i)

we noticed a couple of issues:
1: was slightly grainy when zooming in in post

(we’re a one person shooting team, we have others working with us behind the scenes digitally, but for shooting fays it’s all us)

    2: limited to 1080p

    3: has a 30 min record limit

We’ve also had to adjust from a very rushed and pressured atmosphere, (one speed family dynamics, and retail)
so we’ve done some work on our staging and framing.

As well as an update to our rig to a Blackmagic 6k pocket, a gimbal, and utilizing Sony’s new Pro-i

  • Surgery and the retopo project

We had to take some time off, as our surgery date came up, everything went –

    (sideways?)

for lack of a better word.. it was a surgery we’ve been waiting 10 years for, there were complications but we’re alive.

During our recovery, we’ve been tackling some courses, and retopoing –

(retopologizing- or redoing the edge loops, or changing the way the lines flow around the model)

Ches, and it looks so much better.

  • Studying progress

with out a better title, the best way we can explain the recent updates is as above.

Ches’ species, the pine marten, has had me stumped for a little while, their heads are a odd trapezoid/pyramid shape, looking like completely different shapes depending on the angle you view them from.

so taking a step back, we’ve decided to take some additional courses.

(not to mention a surgery that we’ve been waiting on for 10 years, has help shed some light on the issues)

so working on finalizing the facial proportions

(and working on eye textures, and recovery)

have eaten allot of our time.
